M.Sc. in Physics from Meerut University, Meerut, in 1975 and Ph.D., in Jan. 1980 on Pure and Doped Chalcogenide Glasses of As-Ge.-Te from Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Dr. O. S. Panwar joined BML Munjal University as a Professor in Physics. He obtained his M.Sc. in Physics from Meerut University, Meerut, in 1975 and Ph.D. in Jan. 1980on Pure and Doped Chalcogenide Glasses of As-Ge.-Te from Panjab University, Chandigarh.
He is also incharge of the Semiconductor-Large Area and Flexible Electronics Lab. Prior to joining BMU, he was the Chief Scientist in the Advanced Materials and Devices Group, Head Polymorphic Carbon Thin Films Group, Head, Amorphous and Microcrystalline Silicon Solar cells Group, Head Plasma Processed Materials Group,in the Physics of Energy Harvesting Division of CSIR-National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi, and Professor, Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), NPL, New Delhi
He obtained his M.Sc. in Physics from Meerut University, Meerut, in 1975 and Ph.D. in Jan. 1980on Pure and Doped Chalcogenide Glasses of As-Ge.-Te from Panjab University, Chandigarh. During his career, he has worked at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, Trinity College, Ireland, The Queen’s University, Northern Ireland, Cambridge University, UK, among other leading institutions.
Throughout his career, he has been awarded numerous scholarships and fellowship and awards – Merit Scholarship (1969-71), Bursary Scholarship (1971-73), National scholarship (1973-75), JRF and SRF (Jan. 1975- Jan. 1980), PDF ( Jan. 1980-Jan. 1981). Research Associate (Jan. 1981-Jan./1982), Senior Scientific Officer ( Jan. 1922- Jan. 1983). He was awarded Raman Research Fellowship in 2001, MRSI medal in 2011, Bharat Jyoti Award in 2013 and Fellow/Academician, Asia Pacific Academy of Materials (APAM) in 2015.
He is a life member of the Semiconductor Society of India, Solar Energy Society of India, Materials Research Society of India and member of American Nano Society, American Vacuum Society and Society of Scientific Values.
His biography has been published in Marquis, who’s Who, Marquis, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Dictionary of International Biography, Best Citizen of India
His field of interest is Amorphous/Micro/Nano Silicon and Carbon based Materials, Devices (Solar cells and panels, TFTs, FEDs etc), Systems and Chalcogenide glasses. His present research interest is in Graphene, CNTs-graphene hybrid films, amorphous carbon films embedded with nanocrystallites, their devices and large area and flexible electronics and sensors
He has published over 103 papers in national and international journals, participated in numerous national and international conferences and workshops with about 150 papers, and holds a patent.
