Dr. Nagendra Pratap Singh is an Assistant Professor at the School of Engineering & Technology, BML Munjal University (A Hero Group Initiative and Mentored by Imperial College London). He had been trained as an expert in the interdisciplinary area of Nanoengineering i.e Physics, Electronics, Materials Engineering and Mechanical Engineering from Department of Mechanical Engineering and Centre of Nano Science & Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Karnataka. Before joining to IISc, he have worked as an Assistant Professor in National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jalandhar in 2008.
Dr. Singh went to CeNSE and Mechanical department to received his graduate degree (Ph.D. Engg.) (with Prof. Rudra Pratap). He had worked on device quality metal oxides nanostructure growth and characterization (Optical and piezoelectric measurement by AFM) as well device fabrication and characterization based on 1D nanostructures (Field emitter, Memristors and gas sensors). His research outcomes are very important and have direct impact on society, basic technology development and for direct industrial applications.
He had expertise in Micro/Nano-Manufacturing, High Precision Measurements, Ultra-high precision Engineering, Innovative Technology and implementation, nanomaterials, thin films, micro/nano-fabrication, MEMS device design and fabrication. His teaching belief is theoretical and experimental both which has direct applications to technology and products relevent to the society and Industry. His experimental skills and theoretical knowledge exposure in the multidisciplinary area of science & technology will enable him to execute and run the innovative R&D projects in the area of MEMS/NEMS, Sensors and Transducers along with the production of device quality materials and thin films.
Before joining to BML Munjal University, Gurgaon he have worked as postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, San Francisco. There; he focused on Biomedical MEMS microfluidic Devices, Micro-XCT, Image processing using AVIZO and Matlab, High resolution Imaging, Biomaterials (Dental materials, Kidney Stone, and Other material identification for engineering applications), Application of MEMS/NEMS device concepts in developing artificial Kidney.
He have been also associated with industry GE Global Research Center, JFWTC, Bangalore as an Independent consultant in the area of Electron Microscopy for materials research in aviation field and he have also worked as Fellow consultant-Nano electronic Scientist with a semiconductor startup company BCauSE Enterprise at Noida. He worked on flexible electronics, back-end circuit designing and MEMS application in the flexible smart paper.
Working with Reputed companies such as GE GRC, Bangalore and BCauSE Enterprise Pvt. Ltd. and reputed institution such as Ion Beam Complex (IIT Kanpur), National Institute of Technology & Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, he had established himself as good leader along with innovative researcher.
His teaching interest are Manufacturing process, Vibration and Modal Analysis, Finite Element methods (Analytical and computational), Thermal, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Behavior of Materials, Micro/Nano-Manufacturing, Ultra-high precision engineering, Emerging Material Science and Applications, Micro/Nano-mechanics, Mico- and Nano-systems (MEMS/NEMS), Nano-materials and nano scale devices, Ceramics, Advanced characterization (AFM, STM, SEM, XRD, TEM, UV-Vis Spectroscopy, Raman Spectroscopy, Electrical Characterizations, Photoluminescence, Cathodoluminescence and Electroluminescence), Quantum Mechanics, Device Physics, Integrated Optics, Failure analysis and Reliability, and Mechanical behavior and Testing of Materials.
His other interests include watching scientific, engineering & technology videos and reading & editing scientific documents, traveling and interacting with people.
