Dr. Vishal TalwarDean, School of Management
Dr. Vishal Talwar is Dean – School of Management and Professor of Marketing at BMU. Prior to Joining BMU, Dr. Talwar was the Head of Campus (Mumbai) and Assistant Dean with S.P. Jain School of Global Management. Dr. Talwar had spent close to 12 years in the United Kingdom and returned to India in 2013.
Whilst in the UK, Dr. Talwar worked as faculty in leading universities and business schools such as the London School of Economics and the Henley Business School, University of Reading. At Henley, he was awarded the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Learning and Teaching Award’ in recognition of his consistent endeavour to improve the student experience.
A Marketing Management academic, Dr. Talwar has presented his research and/or taught in countries such as the UK, USA, Canada, Italy, Finland, Spain, Hongkong, Singapore and Dubai. With research and consulting interests in customer portfolios, marketing resource allocation and consumer ethics, Dr. Talwar has published in leading journals such as the Journal of Business Ethics (a Financial Times Top 50 Journal), International Journal of Market Research and has even received best paper proceedings at the Academy of Management in the US. His co-authored paper dealing with the economic worth of product placement was nominated for the Market Research Society (UK) Silver Medal in 2017.
He has also presented his research at prestigious conferences such as the American Marketing Association Conference, Informs Marketing Science Conference, Academy of Marketing Conference and the International Marketing & Purchasing (IMP) Conference.
He has written in or contributed to the Monocle Magazine, the Times of India, Economic Times, Daily News & Analysis (DNA), Hindustan Times, The Tribune, The Statesman, Business Standard and Entrepreneur Magazine.
Dr. Talwar is a PhD from Manchester Business School where he was awarded a doctoral scholarship by the Shell Oil Company. With a first degree in mechanical engineering and a post graduation in management, Dr. Talwar has worked previously in the automotive as well as advertising industries in firms such as Exide Industries and Euro RSCG Advertising.
He takes avid interest in mentoring new age startups and is involved with them in various capacities. Constant Commerce, based in the UK is one such start up where retail partners use their platform to connect to the world’s biggest audiences, brands and ad campaigns. He is also on the Board of Bonphul Air Products, a new age startup that aims to be the world’s most comprehensive indoor air quality company.
