Col. Narpat Singh Director, HR
Col. Narpat Singh graduated from University of Delhi in ’83 and then joined the Indian Military Academy. He has served the elite Cavalry in the Indian Army for over two decades before taking voluntary retirement in 2007. There, he rose to the rank of a Lieutenant Colonel. Besides learning the rudiments of leadership and management and practicing them with success during his service in the Tank Corps, he also served as a Service Psychologist at a Services Selection Board. There, he had participated in assessment of personality of men and women between the ages of 16 and 42 years who aspired to be officers in the Indian Navy and Army. He holds qualification in HR from Symbiosis and XLRI respectively.
Prior to joining BMU, he was engaged with Educomp Group for over six years. He first headed the HR function in their Higher Education business for about five years and subsequently, their school business for a year plus. He holds experience in designing and applying HR processes for eleven institutions which were established to impart education to undergraduate and post graduate students in areas of Design, Engineering and Management. This was an Indo – Singapore JV with over a third of the work force being expatriates. There, good global practices in HR in the Higher Education area were applied with success.
This tenure was preceded by over two years of leadership of the Training and Academics function in Hero Mind Mine Institute of the Hero Group. Having delivered training on a wide range of subjects to employees of all seniorities of companies across various sectors, and having both designed content and trained trainers, he is conversant with the challenges that we experience in the course of our delivering quality education and other work that we do in our course of functioning in the University.
